Split a video by time into equal-length clips

Need a long recording cut into 30-second clips, 1-minute segments or a set number of equal parts? Type the length you want, and the whole video is divided into back-to-back clips of exactly that duration.

How to split a video into clips of a set length

  1. 1

    Open your video

Choose an MP4, MOV or WebM file. Its length is read right away; nothing is uploaded.

  2. 2

    Enter the clip length

Under “Split into clips”, type any number of seconds: 30 for 30-second clips, 60 for 1-minute segments. Or tap a suggested length.

  3. 3

    Check the plan

The timeline shows every clip before anything is exported. Change the length until it looks right.

  4. 4

    Export

Download one clip, tap “Download all videos”, or get every clip in one file with “Download all as ZIP”.

How to split into equal parts

Divide the video's length in seconds by the number of parts you want, then type that number. A 10-minute (600-second) video in 4 equal parts needs a clip length of 150 seconds.

If the numbers don't divide evenly, the last clip holds what is left. A leftover under 1 second is joined to the last clip, so you never get a tiny extra file.

Splitting only part of a video

Use “Trim video” first to set a start and end. Only the trimmed range is split, and “Full video” changes to “Whole trim” to show this.

Tip: pause the main player at the exact moment, then tap “Set start to player” or “Set end to player”.

Exact cuts

Clips are re-encoded, so each one starts and ends on the time you chose instead of jumping to the nearest keyframe. The result looks very close to the original but is not a bit-for-bit copy.

Getting the split you want

  • Tap “Full video” to go back to one clip of the whole video.
  • Changing “Speed” also changes how long each saved clip plays, so check the live preview after you change it.
  • Download many clips at once with “Download all as ZIP”. The ZIP is named like name_clips.zip.
  • Clips you already exported re-download instantly if you don't change the settings in the same tab.

Frequently asked questions

Open the video, type 30 under “Split into clips”, and every clip will be 30 seconds long except the last one, which holds what is left. Download them one by one or as a ZIP.
