Remove audio from a video

Make any video silent. Remove the sound, check the preview and download a muted MP4, right in your browser. You can also replace the sound with music.

How to mute a video

  1. 1

    Choose your video

Drop it on “Drop your video here” or tap “Choose file”. The “Music” tab opens with “Remove original sound” already ticked.

  2. 2

    Do not add music

Leave “Import voice or music” empty. With no music added, the video downloads with no sound at all.

  3. 3

    Keep it as one video

“Full video” is selected under “Split into clips”, so you get one silent video, not parts. You can choose a length there if you do want to split it.

  4. 4

    Download

Tap “Download” to get a silent MP4, or “Save to gallery” on a phone to save it to Photos or Gallery.

Why remove the sound

Muting is useful when a video has wind noise, background talk or music you cannot use. It also helps when you want to add your own sound later in another app, or share a clip without private conversations in it.

Mute or replace?

If you want new sound instead of silence, tap “Import voice or music” and choose a song or voiceover. The original sound stays removed and only your new audio plays.

If you only want the original sound quieter, untick “Remove original sound” after importing music and lower the “Original volume” slider.

Tips for muting video

  • Use the “Trim video” slider on the “Trim & split” tab to cut the video at the same time.
  • The muted video is re-encoded to MP4. Choose “Smaller file” on the “Export” tab for a lighter file to share.
  • Want a vertical silent video for Reels or Stories? Pick “Reels” on the “Resize & rotate” tab before you download.
  • Keep “Remove original sound” ticked. If it is unticked, the video keeps its sound.
